Meet Ron the King Charles Spaniel

Ron's owners contacted us with help with their young King Charles Spaniel. Ron was struggling during his daily walks due to dog reactivity.

Assessment

During his assessment, it was found that Ron had lovely dog-dog social skills when allowed off the lead and given choices. However, when walking on the lead would cause frustration as Ron wanted so desperately to greet and meet other dogs. This led to a big outburst of barking and lunging.

Treatment plan

We introduced a lot of self-control tasks for Ron to help him with his impulse control. This worked in conjunction with redirection training with other dogs being around him. Ron loved his training with the cheese and his owners were amazingly committed to his new training plan.

Ongoing

Ron has now managed to pass several dogs out on walks with great success! He still needs help now and then as some dogs are very exciting for him, but he has been making progress each day.
