Do you use water fountains for you pets?
Water fountains can encourage more drinking for your cat or dog. It is important for health, as water intake can help kidney function and improve gastro-intestinal health. This in turn can help improve behaviours related to internal medical drivers.
For cats the visual sight of moving water is intriguing. The water fountains play off their visual strengths of enjoying movement which they use to target prey or toys. This in turn makes water more appealing and thus more likely to drink.
For dogs, the moving water can be more appealing as the water is kept cleaner, due to the filters that clean out slobber or dirt dripped into the water.
Although they do have filters, they do still need cleaning and replacing as with any food and water bowls. Lastly cables should be kept out of access, so they remain safe for your pet.
